The Durability of Composites for Outdoor Applications

The strength and light weight of composites make them ideal candidates for applications in sectors such as aerospace, marine, and renewable energy, with the additional benefit that they are often thought of as “corrosion proof”. But what effect does the outdoor environment actually have on composites? This webinar will look at how conditions such as humidity, rain, temperature and sunlight affect composites, how the effects can be measured and predicted, and assessment of the lifetime of composites in such environments. Topics will include computer modelling of the amount of water ingress and its effects, accelerated test methods, and advanced thermal and UV characterisation.
